Studio Nocc (Juan Pablo Naranjo & Jean-Christophe Orthlieb)

Juan Pablo Naranjo (born in 1981 in Bogota) and Jean-Christophe Orthlieb (born in 1982 in Cannes) met at Strate College. Before that, they both studied sciences: this shared passion lead them to create Nocc in 2008. In 2010 Maison&Objet selected them as Talents à la Carte where they presented Radiation, among which the Hypertrophie chair today produced by Gallery S. Bensimon. In 2011 they took part in the Nouvelle Vague show in Milan, commissioned by Cedric Morisset; and they received a VIA label as well as the Aidex prize for humanitarian innovation for their Leafbed, now part of the collection of the Fond National d’Art Contemporain.

“Collaborating within studio Nocc means a continuous dialogue guided by a scientific spirit we share, and a conceptual vision. Nocc tries to question each aspect of an object, playing with different codes: archetypal, poetical, practical, with a hint of humor, so the object can be understood in different ways. Edition is a great opportunity to communicate ideas to a large public, and see how they are welcomed. It’s about bumping into reality, a great crash test!”
